Customer Background Information
Warden House Primary School is a two form entry school, based in Deal, Kent. Before migrating over to Google Apps For Education, Warden House used a Kent County Council solution for email – Kent Learning Zone (KLZ).
The schools motivation from KLZ was cost and space. They now have 30GB per mailbox and the cost of their email solution has gone down by 75% per annum. The school email addresses have also been setup the same and they get to keep their school domain name.
The process is quite simple, all email, contacts and diary’s were extracted from KLZ, and imported into Gmail. Primary Technologies handle this – free of charge – when signing up. A switch over date is agreed and its all swapped over on one day.
How They Use It
The School Office have notice very little difference. They still use Microsoft Outlook in school, and when at home, they use Gmail – www.gmail.com
The teachers have access to email on their mobile devices as well as being able to use Gmail in school.
They also use calendars – both personal and shared, all are available via Outlook or via the Gmail Web Interface.
